Whew! I made it!

Well, I'm still alive. See the damage I did?

Hole in wall from removing mirror

To my surprise, Cory wasn't mad at me. I decided to call and tell him before he came home from work as the suspense was eating at me.

You know that reaction where you tell someone something and they just chuckle at you while shaking their head? That about sums it up. I guess he knows me well enough to know I would have done it eventually anyway.

After we took the frame out we discovered why the previous owners put the mirror there in the first place. Look at this!

Previous termite damage

We knew there had been termites at one point in time but haven't had a problem with them since we've moved in. Apparently this was one of the areas they had to treat.

I'm so thankful it's not active! What an unpleasant surprise would that have been? Now that I'm thinking about it, it's time for me to schedule another appointment for someone to come out and check for them again.

I have a few more pictures up on my flickr account if you want to see more.

Do what you love and the rest comes on it's own

sounds like it all worked out in the end. ewww on the termites!

We were scraping paint off the windowsills in our new FLA house & the scraper went through the sill. Turned out all the window frames were hollowed out shells left after termite damage. Bit of a shock for 2 transplanted yankees!

I thought that mirror was suspicious, but never did I imagine that! I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason, you very well could have made a very important discovery in the health and happiness of your house! Think of how financially (and emotionally) draining that could have been if not discovered. AND you got rid of that wacky mirror! XOXO S.

i am laughing at what some would call your impulsiveness.... and thinking of you "crashing" the mirror!
that's what I call making it happen!

Too funny - this sounds like something I would do, but since I live alone I would be stuck trying to decide the next step by myself!
Glad Cory was understanding. :)

And thanks for welcoming me back...I'll try to be a better blogger...missed you in Indy!

I'm glad Cory just laughed it out...to think you would have spent all afternoon worrying about his reaction if you hadn't called him :)

Funny thing...I had no idea what the pic of the termites was all about, since houses over here are not made with wood I have never had any experience with those pesky bugs.
