I started an online class last week called Pure Experimentation: Stencilry taught by Mary Ann Moss. As the name implies, this class is all about spray paint/spray ink and stencils.
This is her second round for this class too. I completely missed the sign-ups for the first one. I'm really excited to see what the class has in store. The pictures I have seen from the previous class are just pure eye candy! Here's the photo pool of them if you want to take a peek.

I'm only halfway through the first lesson. I started on journal cover pages Sunday morning but by 8am it was already 90 degrees! Can you believe that? Ugh. The second half of the lesson I think I will work with spray inks instead so I can do it inside. The images don't come out as crisp but at least I'll be in air conditioning.
The pictures above and below are close ups of my journal covers. You can see more pics on my flickr account. I'm working on changing the finish of the covers. I don't like the grittiness from the spray paint! I have an idea I'm working with tonight. I'll let you know how it turns out when I'm finished (and if it works or not).
I have to work tomorrow but I took Monday and Tuesday off. WooHoo - four day weekend! I'm planning on getting my company website and online portfolio finished up during that time. I also need to get my new business cards and prints ordered.

I don't know if I will be able to work on much artwork even though I really want to. I really want to work on this class! Somehow this past weekend I managed to COMPLETELY screw up my left hand. I can't grip anything and I can't lift my hand up or down at the wrist without pain shooting down my arm. I can hardly use my thumb at all!
I've had trouble with my wrist for years now but I've never had trouble with my hand. I'm guessing maybe I strained a muscle or something? It's not swollen or bruised so I don't think it's fractured or broken. I can't get in to see my doctor until Thursday (he's going on vacation) but if it doesn't start getting better in a few days I might go to a clinic instead.
Thankfully with being a lefty I've adapted to doing most things with my right hand so I'm still able to function alright at work. I'm able to use my pinky, ring and middle fingers on my left hand okay so I'm still able to type too.
Can you imagine - no artwork OR the internet? Yikes!
Do what you love and the rest comes on it's own

good luck with that hand & have a great weekend! The stencils look like fun!
Hi Jennifer,
I left a comment for you on flicker about your beautiful journal covers. They came out great. I'm with you, I don't like the grittiness of the spray paint. I was using flat paint for the first set so I'm going to try glossy and see if I like it better.
for the ones I used the flat paint, I've got some gloss sealer that I'm going to try.
I hope you post about what you use and how you like the result.
I hope your hand feels better soon, & I hope it's not carpel tunnel.
I have left a small gift you in my blog.
Hugs

Hey Jen, about the hand.. I went thru the same thing about a year ago and it was a pinched nerve in my elbow causing the pain and numbness in my hand. It's really not something to ignore, hon.
On a more positive note, the STENCIL WORK OMG I am so totally impressed! I love love love working with spray paint. If this gal holds another class of the same type I'd love to take it!
Get your hand looked at and make sure they consider the carpal and ulnar nerves. Love ya!

this class sounds exciting! your two stencils look great! I think I remember looking at this class before it starting, then worrying about having to work outside with the spray paint....how lucky you are to have nice weather so that you can work outside. It's so unstable here, super hot one week, then nothing but rain the next.
I hope your hand problem is nothing serious.
Have fun with the class!
This class looks interesting and fun! Hopefully nothing serious with the hand and it will improve soon...definitely see the doc if you're not seeing improvement soon. We need JenArt! Hugs!
Hello there!:) I just joined ATC's for All (that's how I stumbled across your blog) and I'm really excited... although, speaking of stumbling, I'm new at the ATC/trading game. I've got to do some browsing and get acquainted! Can't wait to get involved!!!
Hey - long time no see! Sorry to hear about the trouble with your hand, maybe it's protesting that Texas heat! Just kidding, love your artwork and hope you're up to producing to your heart's content!
Those classes look awesome, I hope your hand feels better soon :)
You have an Award! Check out my blog for details!
Blessings

Hi Jennifer! So, we're in the same class, cool. I will try your suggestion about the acrylic paint.
I went to your flicker site. I really like what is happening with your cover. You took the stenciling further than I did, and it looks good. I didn't have enough found stencils so kind of ran out of steam.
I look forward to seeing what else you do.
Fabulous work! i've only heard wonderful things about her classes. sounds like fun!
i sure do hope your hand is better.
