My beautiful new painting

Sunday, August 30, 2009

I have been eyeballing this painting for quite some time at a local store called Hoola Hoops, located off Cheek Sparger Road in Bedford, TX.

I held off on buying it when I first saw it as I couldn't justify the price for a piece so small. This past Friday, however, I finally caved when I went back with a coworker after about a month or so had passed.

It's a wooden box (I think) and measures 5" x 7" x 2". The longer I have the piece the more I'm glad I purchased it. Just look at the detail on it! Isn't artwork so much better with texture?

The piece is by local artist Kathy Kromer. She has other works available for sale but as far as I can tell she only sells in retail stores, nothing online. Take a moment and check out her portfolio! It's definitely worth a look.

She is from Lewisville I think. I met her at a show several years ago, and yes her work is AWESOME. The texture is just fabulous, esp up close (which your photos really do show well). Here is a Kathy Kromer inspired heart I did back in 2006 after meeting her at a SouthLake Arts Festival: http://twitpic.com/fypar. I'm jealous you have an original! Will be inspiration for you, I'm sure of that! Love, S.

ps I also have to say, this isn't anything you can't do yourself! You already have the talent and vision. Love, S.

That is just fantastic and your photos show it off in all its tactile glory. I'm happy you caved in and bought it. the red heart looks like sealing wax.
